Sazaedo Temple is located in Aizuwakamatsu, a 15 minute car ride from Tsuruga-jo.
The temple entrance is a little hidden - it is up a very narrow road.
Sazaedo Temple was completed in 1796 and reaches 16 meters tall. The temple shape resembles the horned turban shell or sazae in Japanese, which is where the temple's nickname comes from.

Sazaedo has a double helix layout (like a strand of DNA).
The double helix allows for two paths up and down the temple in which traffic in each direction to not meet.
